Happy New Year 2009
Well, 2009 is now upon us and to mark the occasion, which doubles as the 8th anniversary of my first blog post, I feel the need to announce some New Years resolutions.
Now, I’m not going to make unreasonable resolutions like I did a few years back… this years goals will be far more achievable.
So with that, I declare that, this year I shall:
- Post a blog post here each week
- Twitter daily
- Take at least one photo every day
- Lose some weight (there’s a Canon 580EXII or two in it for me)
- Submit photos in the DPC Free Studies every month
- Submit photos in the PAW side challenge on DPC each week
Seems like a lot, I know, but I think I’m up to it.
Canon EOS Photo5 Competition

I got my Canon EOS Photo5 competition package in the mail yesterday.
Now I just have to get my creative juices flowing with the following items:
- 1 x Red Ribbon
- 1 x Tea Light (candle)
- 1 x Yellow Faber Castell Crayon
- 1 x Cockatil Umbrella
- Bubbles
I know what you’re thinking… two blog posts on the same day? What’s going on here?
Well… I’m stuck at home with a “sprained1” knee and what better way to wait for the roll-over on DPC than to blog and look for inspiration for the Photo5 competition.
Notes:
- I’m hoping that is all it is… would hate to have another knee reconstruction on it… will find out later this week how serious it is [↩]
Wordle
Logged into flickr for the first time in ages and found an invite for Wordle from pixelkitty from back in June. Figured I’d have a play with it and created this from the text on this site.
Interesting, the art one can make with words… other than books and poems etc I mean.
Gold Coast Football Club
"GC" - Gold Coast FC's mascot
So the AFL have announced the name and colours of its next expansion team… the “Gold Coast Football Club“.
The biggest surprise is that they’ve opted to not give the club a nickname… largely because they couldn’t get the one they wanted, i.e. “Sharks”.
So, from this, one can only guess that they’re leaving it up to the clubs. and/or leagues, fans to come up with one, and we all know that the fans of opposition teams will not be too kind with what they come up with.
So… my thoughts are, given their location, and their mascot, that everyone should start referring to this new club as the “Gold Coast Budgie Smugglers“.
What do you think? Will it catch on?
Madrid
It’s been over two months since my trip to Madrid and I still haven’t posted anything about it here. Life gets in the way of blogging.
Anyway, all I can really say is that a week was no way near enough… especially considering that the overwhelming majority of that week was spent working. Madrid is a very beautiful city and I look forward to going back there later in the year, and hopefully, I’ll get more time to do touristy things, like take lots of photos… didn’t take nearly enough photos.
