For the past two weeks, I’ve had a very sore, very bloodshot eye… nothing contagious… NOT pinkeye!!! However, the sensativity to light meant I wasn’t inclined to sit in front of a PC any longer… hence the lack of posts… well, that’s the reason for the recent hiatus.
It’s NOT Pinkeye…

Dave Allen dead at 68
March 12th, 2005 Comments Off
I woke this morning to the news that Dave Allen had died in his sleep, aged 68.
Oddly enough, it was just a week or two ago that I went looking for Dave Allen DVDs… sadly I had no luck finding any at the local shopping-centres (might have to look again though).
It’s sad that he’s gone, but in true Irish style, I don’t plan on wallowing in sorrow over his passing, but instead, I’ll pour myself a glass of whiskey and celebrate his life.
Here’s a toast to the funny Irishman with part of a finger missing… to Dave Allen.
Anthony “Milli Vanilli” Callea
March 7th, 2005 § 53
Hopefully, if Melbourne manage to keep the rights to host the 2006 F1 Grand Prix, the organisers will know better than to book the Australian Idol runner-up to sing our national anthem.
Last year, Shannon Nolls butchered the national anthem I sat there thinking that I could do a better job, and I know I can’t sing
This year, Anthony Callea mimed Advance Australia Fair so badly that Ashlee Simpson, Betty Boo and Eminem are making room for Anthony in their “Mimers Anonymous” workgroup… run by Milli Vanilli.
Even the Anthony Callea fan-club is struggling with the situation… but have managed to lay blame with channel Ten… somehow.

… cows within a herd form friendship groups of between two and four animals with whom they spend most of their time, often grooming and licking each other. They will also dislike other cows, and can bear grudges for months or years.“Grooming and licking” is something I’ve always done with my good friends. This news seems somewhat approriate coming to light after the revelation that a 63 year old man in Wisconsin has been “charged with sexual gratification with an animal for allegedly having sex with calves.”
Harold G. Hart, of Neillsville, allegedly told police that he routinely stopped at a Greenwood farm, usually after bar closing or on trips to strip clubs near Marshfield or Neillsville.One wonders what sort of strip clubs they have in the Marshfield-Neillsville area…
The big question is whether the court hearing on March 10th be take “victims-of-crime” statements? Personally, I think they should as it’d allow the cows to moove on with their lives.
Sure these cows will find it difficult to forgive Harold (they are known to hold a grudge), but it’s better that they address the issue – otherwise we might find ourselves with the situation where mad cows take to the street for retribution… cows with guns style.
Make a Living Blogging?
March 1st, 2005 § 2
Kottke has given up his day job to blog full-time, it’s been known for some time that Daily Kos makes THOUSANDS of dollars (tens of thousands from memory, but I’m unable to locate the article stating that at the moment) from the ads on his site, and NOW there’s news that local Melbourne blogger, Darren Rowse expects to be making a six-figure sum from his blogs this year. Good on him, I say…
If he can do it, why can’t we all…???
Perhaps there’s a way of making the big bucks blogging without cutting all ties from the traditional work environment. Maybe I should apply for the position of Vice President, CMT Dukes of Hazzard Institute..
The CMT website lists the responsiblities of such a position:Worth considering… perhaps?
- watch The Dukes of Hazzard every weeknight on CMT;
- know the words to The Dukes of Hazzard theme song, “Good Ol’ Boys,” written and performed on the series by the legendary Waylon Jennings;
- serve as media expert on The Dukes of Hazzard for the CMT Dukes of Hazzard Institute: must be available for TV, radio and newspaper interviews to share passion for The Dukes of Hazzard on CMT;
- write the CMT Dukes of Hazzard Institute online blog for cmt.com;
- be passionate about The Dukes of Hazzard on CMT;
- make appearances at special events such as Dukesfest 2005 in Bristol, Tenn., (June 4-5, 2005).
