Hows this for a story. The Age: Flak flies over police freebies highlights that police in Victoria are “entitled” to discounts from certain city retailers just because they’re police. I don’t have anything against police but why should they be given discounts at these retailers that have no direct association with the police force. Staff discounts, membership discounts,…these I can understand BUT it doesn’t seem right police should receive these discounts just because they enforce the law. These discounts seem to be a way for these retailers to ensure some police presence in their store, or more accuratley that what the retailers are hoping to acheive by offering the discounts. I feel better that I’ve vented 🙂
