It’s quite possible that Australia’s captain might hang-up his boots, for the national squad at least, after the World Cup.
Viduka said that Australia’s performance at the World Cup would influence his decision but the prospect of increased travel as the Socceroos attempt to qualify for next year’s Asian Cup may convince him to call it quits.
It’s hard for me to be away from my family for a couple of days… I can’t imagine how it would be for weeks or months on end. I couldn’t begrudge anyone retiring for those reasons, but, that said, IF he does retire, I’d love to see him do a Dwight Yorke and come out of retirement to guide his nation to the world cup in four years time.
